Airside Operations Assistant P/T

Magnum Management Inc. has a permanent, part-time opportunity for an Airside Operations Assistant at the Chilliwack Airport. Reporting to the Airport Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, secure and efficient operation of the airfield. This position currently requires two days a week plus vacation coverage as required.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Coordinating airside activities in accordance with Transport Canada Standards and Recommended Practices documentation and YCW procedures
- Ensuring the airport's safety and security management systems programs are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards
- Responding to and resolving operational issues that affect airside safety and/or regulatory compliance
- Ensuring that airside construction projects are conducted safely and in compliance with all aerodrome safety and secutury regulations, and advising stakeholders on airport and aircraft operational concerns and recommending changes where necessary
- Promoting, monitoring and maintaining safe and efficient airside operations by working closely with various stakeholders on taxiway and runway operations, apron operations and parking operations
- Establishing and maintaining effective two-way communications
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments, and other airside activities for airside capital projects
- Completion of daily check lists
- Coordinate, order and receive fuel deliveries
- Operate and maintain all machinery in accordant with local policies
- Responding to airport emergency situations in accordance with Airport Managers Directive and the Emergency Management Plan
- Responding to any requirement under the Wildlife Management Plan
- Ability to operate equipment, grass cutting, hand tools, etc.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Completion of a Certificate in Wildlife Management, Safety Management Systems, WHMIS, First Aid Level 1, preferred
- Past experience working in an airport's airside environment preferred
- A work history that demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong understanding of airport functions, policies and procedures, especially as they relate to airside operations
- Proven ability to communicate at a professional level, both verbally (eg meeting facilitation, conflict resolution) and in writing (ie report writing)
- Successful candidate will be a self-starter
- Must possess a strong demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
- Established history of building solid working relationships with internal and external customers
- Working knowledge of computer skills
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License and the ability to obtain a D/A AVOP license
- Possession of a Radio Communication License
- Candidate will provide a recent criminal history check
