Purpose:

This position reports to the Manager of Operations Coordinator and is responsible for coordination and support of the daily flight schedule including both regular and irregular operations. This position formulates implements and communicates IROP contingency plans with the goal of maximizing SPOT and minimizing operational and guest impact.

Job Description:
  • Formulate, implement and communicate IROP contingency plans in conjunction with the Chief Operations Coordinator and Airports Communication Coordinator
  • Monitor flight delays, cancellations, weather advisories, aircraft swaps, flight reroutes and other operational constraints and communicate these to affected stations and flight crews
  • Responsible for managing Sabre Movement Control including performing IROP functions, forecasting flight delays, identifying priority flights and creating extra flight segments as required
  • Manage gate assignment for tier two and tier three centralized, trans border and International stations
  • Monitor and review delay coding on behalf of Flight Operations and trans border and international stations and engage flight crews and other stakeholders as required for additional information and clarification
  • Assist the Chief Operations Coordinator with incident reporting through WestJet’s Incident Notification System
  • Initiate Emergency Response notification as required in conjunction with the Chief Operations Coordinator
  • Coordinate operational support requirements between flight crews and airports
  • Coordinate and communicate customs exemptions for approved trans-border flights
  • Liaise with Flight Crews, Airports, and Emergency Response providers to ensure emergency medical assistance is provided as required by guests and/or flight crews

    Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work shift work
  • Minimum 1 year Airline Operational experience required
  • Working knowledge of Sabre applications including FliteTrac Plot is an asset
  • Intermediate level of MS Office applications required
  • Radio License required
  • Possess high degree of motivation and commitment to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Proven ability to multi-task during high stress situations with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to communicate in clear, accurate, concise and professional manner
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the capability of establishing respect and credibility through actions
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload
